CODING
Mark Zuckerberg, Co-founder of Facebook once said "In fifteen years we'll be teaching programming just like reading and writing ...and wondering why we didn't do it sooner."
Yes it's so very true, the next big revolution for the coming Generation is going to be CODING.
But why Coding?
Coding is the A,B,C of the much used Internet and to lot other things that we involve ourselves in the daily life. From our phones, to apps we use, to even now the blog we read...it all needs code to run. So it's so very important to teach our kids "How to Code".
Wondering how can that be possible to teach a 6 year or even a 10 year old to code, when most of us ourselves are illiterate in writing codes.
But yes, it is possible through Code.org.
Code.org is dedicated to the vision that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn to code.
They have a great curriculum for kids to learn all about coding in a fun way. They have got workshops, step by step courses which has a fun way of teaching about CODE.

The image below is a beginner course. It might just look like a normal game, but when the kids play it they learn so much beyond the game.
Below is a video where Mark (Facebook co-founder) teaches the concept of "Loops" to the kids in the course. This makes Coding really interesting to watch with no more complex teaching.
Happy Coding,

B for BOOKS
Books Books Books . . . I have always enjoyed reading books. And that's one of the reasons which got me into blogging as well. When I read books, I get connected to it and completely get into a whole new world.
When I was in school, I used to enjoy reading TinTin, Nancy Drew, Amar Chithra Katha and lot of comics. And as I grew my interest changed to specific authors like Jane Austen, Jeffery Archer and Sherlock Holmes.
So I feel that the liking towards the writing changes but always the love of reading books remains the same.
It's important to cultivate reading habits in our kids as well. I am happy that my daughter Ri enjoys reading like me. And yes we are surely in a lucky era where we have got so many publishers and writers that you just have to go and pick up the book you want.
Doodle for B - BOOKS :
Here I have drawn me along with a pool of books in the shelf. I guess the 'me' in the picture will take her own sweet time to go through all the books. So let's leave the 'me' in the picture with her book time and let us all keep blogging.
Happy blogging,

A Puzzling Tour of India
A Puzzling Tour Of India is by Yali Books. Yali Books is an independent publisher, a venture by Kala and Ambika Sambasivan. Their books focuses on the South Asian cultures.
About the Book
The book ' A Puzzling Tour Of India ' is an activity book with all about India, as the title suggests. They have activities like mazes, spot the difference, puzzles and lot more inside the book. The book is mainly for kids above 6 years.
So what is it different from the other activity books???
The difference from the other books is that each activity in it also has a concept to teach along with it. Like the cover page of the book showing a maze activity inside the India map. Than showing kids just the India map, a maze inside - along with the map surely makes it a lot more interesting. Like that there are so many concepts to learn from the activities inside the book. From finding a way out through the folds of the "Rajasthani - leheriya pagadi " to finding the objects in "Chor Bazaar" of Mumbai . It makes concepts about India much more interesting with the activities.
So looking for a book to teach about India , this book should be a good buy.

Soccer Sami and the Big Meanie Coach
The book "Soccer Sami and the Big Meanie Coach" is by Stooart a commercial artist and author. I got this book in a book giveaway contest and happy to write a review as well.
So What is the book all about?
The book revolves around Sami, the hippo who loves to play soccer. Eventually she happens to join a soccer team which is coached by a very mean coach and Sami is made to wait for her turn to play. Sami being a very positive girl waits patiently for her turn to come. But she soon realises her dream fading away.
So does Sami really gets a chance to play? Does she fulfil her dream ? It is for you to read and find out..
Something interesting which got me into the book was the illustrations. Stooart who is also the illustrator of the book has portrayed the character of Sami beautifully. Sami who is shown as a cute, friendly, sporty hippo is easy to be connected as the main character of the book.
The moral inside:
The author has a beautiful way of telling it "Do what you love, Love what you do".
It's important to make our children realize that winning isn't everything. Sportsmanship, teamwork is all that is more important and goes a long way in fulfilling their dreams.
So Sami is surely here to stay with her sporty and ready-to-go attitude. Happy reading!!
You can buy the e-book or the paperback of the book by clicking in the following link: Soccer Sami

Learning Science through magnets
As National Science Day is coming on 28th February ....learn to do a simple experiment with magnet. This post is already published in Indian Moms Connect community
Things required:
Things required:
1)magnets
Method :
Learning through this experiment :
2)rectangular black chart paper
3)chalk
4)car cutouts
5)paper clipsMethod :
1) Take a rectangular black chart paper and draw smal lines in the middle to make it look like a road.
2) Take any colour chart paper and draw a car and cut it as shown in the picture .Make sure you have an extra small slit of paper below the car tyres to attach the paper clips.
3) Now hold the black chart paper ( road ) and keep the car above the black chart paper. And hold the magnet exactly below the black chart where you have placed the car and move the magnet....
4) You can see the car moving above along with the magnet which is below the black chart paper.
Magnet attracts metals. The metal here is the paper clip, which moves along with the magnet .

Building the parenting tower....
Recently I was reading the book "the one minute mother" by spencer Johnson and the above sentence is from the book. It's a parenting book highlighting three techniques that we can follow as a parent(be a mother or a father). I know as readers u might wonder how is it possible to understand parenting by reading a book,as it's a bond which can only be felt and experienced. But yes this book did help me to widen my thoughts and organise the parenting blocks in my mind.
Going through the sentence again from the book "we become what we think about". It's a simple sentence but holds so much within it. It's so important to make our kids realise that first we have to aim for it to shoot at it. It's such a simple logic, which we adults too have to follow. To work towards something you should know what's that something. One of the techniques that the author wants us parents to teach our kids is the importance of having goals.
I know to make them understand about goals and stick to that is not going to happen in a day. It's a slow and continuous process of making them realise it. May be initially we have to invest a little time in them for making them realise their goals . But surely the results will be great.
I have often come across parents telling ,"we have caught our kid doing something wrong today".But here the author has put a beautiful phrase - " catch them doing something right". Their is so much positivity in that sentence....don't you agree with me?
Its so important as parents to make our children feel positive and happy about themselves. Because if they feel good about themselves then they perform well too. It implies to us adults also,we are
confident and perform well when we are happy with ourselves.
I know there cannot be a defined set of rules to be followed for parenting , but yes this book can surely be an important block in building the parenting tower.
Look forward for the remaining part of this post in the coming days...

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
( This blog is already published in IMC )
The Very Hungry Caterpilar is a wonderful picture book to be in every kids library. Eric Carle, the author and illustrator of the book has a very unique way of illustrating his books. This book potraits the journey of a caterpillar from an egg to a beautiful butterfly.
After reading and re-reading it so many times, Ri (my 6 year old daughter) and me thought of crafting this book in our own way.
Here are the steps.
1) We started with making an egg with a sponge and stuck it on a leaf made with green chart paper.
3)The third stage was the making of the Caterpillar. Ri wanted it to be as it is in the book. So I drew it for her like that and she coloured it using different shades of green.
And Bingo we finished making it and here is the final full craft :)

Organising your tiny tots accessories
Organising the hair bands, chains, clips of your tiny tot can be a hectic job at times. This simple post can help you get it organised.
Hair-band holder:
Stitch small fabric straps to hold the bands.
Chain holder:
Here I have used a handle from an old worn out bag to hang the chains.
Clip holder:
An old belt can be used to arrange the clips.
A lot of unused things can be reused this way. So get creative with the things around and get organised with theses easy methods. Hope you found this post useful.
